Here is my blog about our chicken adventures. We started to look into getting chickens about 2-3 yrs ago, but never really sat down and planned things out. There was always something else that needed to be done.
This year we set aside a budget for the coop and found some plans online and got to work!
This will also be an "Urban" coop since we are in the heart of the city.

The Roof is up!

Here is a photo of the roof up.....we went with a polycarbonate roof that is a smoke grey.  This is supposed to block out 70% of the sun's rays.

  1. I think it looks wonderful! Is it sitting on a concrete pad? I would think that would make it easy to clean, since you could rake or shovel the litter, then hose it off. Is that your plan?

I'm a bit envious of you, because I'd LOVE to have chickens, but they are not allowed where I live (suburban Muncie, IN). Where in St. Louis do you live that allows chickens (just the general area)? Or are you getting them "under the radar", lol?

  2. Thanks! This is sitting on concrete pavers and cinder blocks on the corners. The inside of the coop run is just packed dirt, and we will cover that with sand so we'll just sift it out.
They allow chickens in most areas in MO....even in the city where I live. There is a chicken movement right now and our meetup group already has 200 members. :)
